I've updated the calendar on the front page of my website to include all my appearances at the Festival of Words.
My time is my own today, so I've been wandering around Moose Jaw. Found a local Sally Ann, lucked into some older sewing patterns, one of those craft magnifiers that you hang from your neck while you're doing detailed handwork, a nice length of cotton curtain fabric with cutwork embroidery at its edge, and another piece of curtain that's so elaborately pleated and draped that I'm considering adapting it as a bustle for a formal dress. Found a health food store and wandered in to look for wheat and gluten-free bread. (When your diet should go easy on eggs, preserved meats, sugar, caffeine and most grains, eating breakfast away from home can be a challenging proposition.) First thing that greeted my eyes on the shelves was medical marijuana for pets! Right beside it was the same for adults, in capsule form containing ground-up seeds. Talk about not being in Kansas. Medical marijuana is quasi-legal in Ontario, but I'm pretty sure you need a prescription for it. Apparently not in Saskatchewan. No, I didn't buy any. For one thing, I wasn't sure how it would go over to have weed in my luggage on the flight back to Ontario. I do have chronic pain. I'd probably be eligible for medical marijuana in Ontario, but I've never looked into it. At the moment I'm more interested in remedying the iron deficiency that seems to be exacerbating the pain than in solely addressing the aches. I got my wheat- and gluten-free bread, though.
